Our client, a well-established general contractor based in Houston, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager with a focus on K-12 projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone eager to transition into a Project Manager role and develop their career within the construction industry.
About the Role
As the Assistant Project Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting the project team while gaining invaluable experience in managing large-scale educational construction projects. Working closely with senior project managers, you will be involved in the planning, coordination, and execution of K-12 school construction projects, ensuring they meet the highest standards in quality, safety, and budget.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction through completion.
  • Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project timelines and budgets are met.
  • Coordinate project documentation, including contracts, drawings, and schedules.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate effectively with internal and external teams.
  • Contribute to managing project budgets, estimates, and forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and industry standards, particularly in K-12 construction.
  • Develop leadership skills to eventually transition into a Project Manager role.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in construction, with a focus on K-12 projects.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, including contract administration, budgeting, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Desire to grow into a Project Manager role and take on additional responsibilities over time.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
